Please join us for another Kids Corner / Living in Zürich talk. 

Dr. Rutkowska will come to the clubhouse to discuss the following: 
What does it mean to be bilingual?
How do children acquire language(s)?
Are there cognitive differences between monolingual and bilingual children?
What are the differences in communication between monolingual and bilingual children?
Why do those differences arise?
How can we support the development of bilingual children?

Dr. Joanna Rutkowska received her PhD in developmental psychology from Radboud University in Nijmegen, Netherlands. She is currently a researcher in the Kleine Weltentdecker*innen research group, part of the Developmental Psychology: Infancy and Childhood chair at the University of Zurich. Her research focuses on differences in the development of social and cognitive skills between monolingual and multilingual children, as well as the origins of these differences. She particularly investigates how monolingual and multilingual children adapt their communication to different interaction partners and which factors influence this development.
