Designed for locals who want to start exploring Swiss trails but aren't sure where to begin, this practical session covers: how to read Swiss trail signage and understand difficulty ratings, use essential hiking apps, and find hikes that match your level and interests. We'll also cover the mountain hut system and planning hut-to-hut hikes, and address common concerns like hiking solo or fear of heights. Whether attendees are new to hiking or just new to hiking in Switzerland, they will leave with practical tools and the confidence to explore Switzerland's incredible trails independently.

Alex Bornhoft is the founder of The WanderWeGo Co (www.thewanderwegoco.com), a hiking consultancy based in Zurich. Since relocating to Switzerland in 2018, she has completed hundreds of hikes and dozens of hut-to-hut treks across the Swiss Alps. Alex specializes in helping expats and travelers plan personalized hiking adventures through custom itineraries and consultations. Her approach combines detailed route planning with practical education on Swiss trail systems, mountain hut culture, and essential navigation tools. Alex is passionate about helping people step outside their comfort zones and experience the local side of Switzerland with authentic alpine adventures.
