AWCZ LIBRARY

The American Women’s Club of Zurich is privileged to maintain one of the largest English-language libraries in the Zurich area. Fully volunteer run for over 85 years, the Library at our Clubhouse features an extensive collection of fiction, nonfiction, and audiobooks for all ages. Usage of the library is included in an AWCZ membership. You can also use the library as a "Friend of the Library". Check the conditions at the bottom of this page.

The library is located at our Clubhouse at Höschgasse 38, 8008 Zürich. It normally has the following hours:

We are closed on all Swiss public holidays.
The library is closed on May 1 and May 10, 2024.

What's on the shelves

Our dynamic collection includes over 7,500 books and audiobooks for our patrons. For adults, we have award-winning fiction and nonfiction, travel books, biography, classics, reference materials, and a Swiss themed section. For children, we have many picture books, easy readers, juvenile and young adult fiction, along with nonfiction with an extensive US history selection. Audio books on CD for all ages are also available.

New items are added throughout the collection each month, with special features for holidays. Members can request specific book purchases for the library.

Friends Of The Library Subscribers

Individuals wishing to use the AWCZ Library, but don't want to be a AWCZ member, may become Friends of the Library subscribers. A 12-month subscription is CHF 75. Stop by during regular opening hours to complete an application or for more information. Please contact the Friends of the Library Coordinator at friends_library@awczurich.org for any questions.
